This book is a product of over forty years of care giving within my family. I don’t claim to be an expert but I do say that I am a person who had a real life, children, husband, career, friends and all the chaos that seems to fill up days with more tasks than there are hours to do them. I lived the care giver life and survived. Along the way, I learned how to enjoy moments and to endure hours and days when there was no other way. Some years, I felt like the filling of a sandwich cookie, my children on one side with their needs and demands and my family or my husband’s with theirs. Because of all those I love, those who shared those years with me, I wrote this book. I shared their stories and mine in the hopes that our experiences would light the way, if only for a moment, for someone else.
